Robots could solve coronavirus-related delivery problems!

According to a recent article in “First News”, a CO-OP Food Store in Buckinghamshire, UK uses a robot to make deliveries to peoples’ houses.

Given the current pandemic, this idea could safe lives because a robot can neither contract nor transmit the coronavirus. Without the help of a robot, people have to go to the store themselves where they could be infected.

However, some people get their groceries delivered — in fact, many more people are having their groceries delivered than just two months ago. This lead to a shortage of delivery slots (as I have personally experienced). If many more robots could be built, they could fill that gap.

In addition, human delivery drivers can get sick. In that case, he or she will have to stay at home and the people that ordered the delivery might go hungry. If robots deliver, however, everyone will get their delivery because robots can’t contract the coronavirus. Before being isolated, drivers can transmit the virus. Since a robot cannot contract the virus it cannot transmit it.

In conclusion, if robots deliver they would be able to do so without contracting or transmitting the virus which would flatten the curve and help the NHS!
